Projects.

Alongside developing our products, we enjoy working on collaborations and projects. Below are an edit of projects we have worked on. If you have a project in mind, we’d love to hear from you.

Mini Stories We’re excited to have collaborated with Counter-Print for our new book. Mini Stories came about from our love of history and story-telling. Inspired by the everyday, we delve into the back stories of what surrounds us - from the wonderful natural world to innovative man-made objects we know and love. Everything comes from something and has a story.

We have gathered some of our favourite mini stories from our mini card library- past, present and also researched, collated and illustrated lots of new stories that are also included in the book. An homage to the brilliant, everyday, ordinary and extraordinary stories.

The book is available with 8 different dust jackets and available our website Scout Editions and via Counter-Print.

Scouts Association We had fun creating a set of illustrations for the Scouts self-care for kids feature. The feature explores practical skills like exercise, being mindful when we eat and how to move through different emotions and coping skills.

Present & Correct We collaborated with the brilliant London-based Present & Correct to create a new range of mini cards ‘Stationery Stories’. A celebration of stationery from ephemera, erasers, pens, pencils, post and paint palettes. The cards were riso-printed with soy-based inks. They’re special edition and available from Present & Correct.

Mulberry We created the Lunar New Year Campaign for Mulberry, to celebrate the Chinese year of the pig. A series of illustrations was created and the in-house digital team developed it into a game based on the journey of the pig, on its way to enlightenment for the new year celebrations which resulted as a digital campaign. The game introduces fun tasks that the pig has to complete his journey. Working with the in-house digital team on illustrative elements which were then made into micro animations for social media platforms.

V&A We worked together with the V&A Museum to create two exclusive limited edition prints to accompany the newly opened Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk exhibition. The first print was inspired by vintage paper fans and the iconic Mount Fuji, screen-printed with water based inks. The second print was inspired by Japanese tea ceremonies. This was our take on the tea room. Riso printed with soy-based inks.

Made By Kihara We collaborated with Japanese porcelain artisans, Kihara on an edit of porcelain accessories. Kihara produce beautiful porcelain based in the Japanese town of Arita, located in the Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyushu. It is known historically as a porcelain area of Japan, with a 400 year history. Kihara continue to use traditional techniques today that have remained unchanged for 400 years alongside new modern techniques.

Kihara was founded in 1955, their products are usually inspired by Japanese culture (Komon, SUN, Tokyo Icon series) and Arita porcelain history and making. They have been collaborating with artists and designers for many years. Kihara recently launched Made by Kihara, an artist label that curates and produces porcelain wares and runs workshops and residencies bringing together local artisans and international artists and designers interested in expanding the potential of Arita porcelain beyond its traditional scope.

We’ve been working with the team experimenting, inspired by the classic Japanese Kakiemon porcelain colours and with small scale porcelain. We have created a collection of porcelain brooches inspired by Arita, porcelain making and Japanese artisan culture along with riso-printed postcards and stamp sets.

The brooches are the smallest porcelain pieces Kihara have ever made, therefore required a new level of sampling and precision. Tensha is like a transfer that has been screen- printed from the illustration artworks with special enamel finish that are included in the inks. We’re excited to tell the story of Kihara, the artisan porcelain culture of Arita, combined with our graphic illustrations to bring you a collaborative collection of porcelain accessories. You can see more of Kihara’s production processes here.
